On January 31, the Center for Social Research (CTM) hosted a meeting with a delegation from the Association of Mediators of Kazakhstan. Deputy Chairman of the Board of STM, Professor Taira Allakhyarova welcomed the guests and informed them about the activities of the center. He noted that socio-economic and political issues of national and public importance prevail in terms of the Center's scientific activities. The Center actively participates in the formation and implementation of policies in the field of social research, analysis and forecasting in Azerbaijan, as well as public opinion research.
Noting that several projects and events have been implemented with the Mediation Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Prof. T. Allahyarova noted that the center conducts research, in particular, in the field of the role of mediation in intra-family relations.
Chairman of the Mediation Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan Nadir Adilov noted in his speech that the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Mediation" was adopted on March 29, 2019. He stressed that in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "on deepening reforms in the judicial and legal system" dated April 3, 2019 and the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Mediation”, a corresponding working group was formed, the Charter of the Mediation Council was agreed upon and the Mediation Council was established on February 12, 2020.
A. Nadirov noted that up to that time, the Mediation Council had established contacts with mediation structures in several countries and exchanged experiences. Especially in recent years, relations with the mediation structures of the Turkish states have become intensive.
Zhandilde Yakupov, Director General of the Association of Mediators of Kazakhstan, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Mediators of the Turkic World, noted that he is on a visit to Azerbaijan at the invitation of the Mediation Council. He spoke in detail about the activities of the association he heads and, in general, about the organization of the mediation service in Kazakhstan, the implementation of regulation and control in the field of mediation, and the legislative framework.
At the meeting, which took place in the format of a mutual exchange of views, the need was noted to expand the possibilities of cooperation between the relevant mediation structures of both countries, in particular, within the framework of the Union of Mediators of the Turkic World with mediation structures of other Turkic states. The 1st Congress of the International Council of Mediators was held on November 28-December 3, 2024 in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, and the 2nd congress is scheduled to be held this year in our country.
Secretary General of the Association of Mediators of Kazakhstan Aida Yakubova, Director of the CTM Department Agshin Mammadov, heads of CTM sectors Humai Akhundzade, Tural Ismailov and Ayten Babayeva also spoke at the meeting. Issues of taking joint measures to develop mediation, organizing the preparation of draft state programs and regulatory legal acts in this area, organizing the work of mediation organizations were discussed. registration of mediators and mediation educational institutions, holding conferences and campaigning events in the field of mediation, etc. An exchange of views was held on issues and answers were given to questions on issues of mutual interest.
